The Calvin & Tina Tyler Hall Student Services Building is a 139,000-square-foot landmark facility located at Morgan State University in downtown Baltimore, Maryland. Positioned at a prominent corner of the historic HBCU campus, this state-of-the-art building serves as a gateway to the university and a symbol of modern academic architecture. Recognized for its excellence, it was named AIA Maryland’s 2021 Public Building of the Year and received the prestigious Excellence in Design Honor Award, highlighting its architectural significance and impact on the State of Maryland’s educational landscape.
Designed to bridge the historic neoclassical campus with modern student-centered spaces, Tyler Hall embodies a bold vision for the future of university infrastructure. The facility seamlessly integrates administrative and faculty offices, student services, campus dining and retail amenities, gathering and leisure areas, and a state-of-the-art data center. With its intuitive layout and natural circulation pathways, the design ensures ease of navigation for students, faculty, and visitors. The building’s tone, material paneling, and glazing create a harmonious connection between Morgan State’s historic architecture and the surrounding urban environment.
